"Nobody has 'no voice.' We have to abandon such thinking. Some voices are louder or receive more consideration. But everyone has a voice." Roxanne Gay
What is an Author Platform?
Think of your platform as the number of people you are able to reach and the methods you use to reach them. Your author/writer platform includes your website, email list, blog, social media, and can be much more, such as podcasts, speaking engagements, etc. It’s where people can learn about you as a writer.
Why do you need a platform? Because you want to be able to reach and engage with people who will be interested in what you do and who will want to buy your books.
You've spent a significant amount of time writing your book, and hopefully, you've said something important or given people a way to escape into the world you created. For someone to read what you have written, they must know about your book, and that's where your platform comes in. By the way, if you think your publisher will do all of this for you, that's just not the way publishing works anymore.
