"When it comes to memoir, we want to catch the author in a lie. When we read fiction, we want to catch the author telling the truth." Tayari Jones

Craft Tip
Use dialogue effectively. Dialogue zooms into the action and gets readers close to the characters. Dialogue also slows down the pacing. To make sure dialogue doesn't lag, wrap it in subtext, character agendas, and emotions. Dialogue isn't just about what the characters say, it's about what they are thinking, their tone, and what they do with their bodies while speaking that reinforces or betrays their words.
